Ethics In An Age of Excess

Australia continues to set new records for economic growth. Evidence of our booming economy is measured in the number of cranes on a city’s skyline, record development approvals and in the clamoring demand for architects. While other economies navigate austerity, Australian architects enjoy a bulging order book – with many riding the wave of game-changing infrastructure, luxurious commercial towers or homes that have-it-all. So in the glow of success, why are some asking if architecture has lost its social purpose, and its focus on the public interest?

Panel speakers: Dr Simon Longstaff AO, Professor Flora Samuel, Shaun Carter and Laura Harding
